Hello Everyone, We’re just around the corner from this year’s FLVC OER Summit on May 23-24, and registration is OPEN! This event is an excellent learning opportunity for anyone interested in the many issues around textbook affordability and the use of Open Education Resources (OER). FLVC has been working in the areas of textbook affordability and the use of OER for more than 15 years. The results of the first Florida Student Textbook Survey were published in 2011 and were instrumental in launching the national conversation on issues around the high cost of college textbooks. FLVC has completed four additional iterations of the survey (available, along with supplemental materials, available here ), which cumulatively provide large-scale, longitudinal data on the impact of the high costs of textbooks on college students. The FLVC OER Summit was first held in 2018 as an opportunity for librarians, teaching faculty, instructional designers, administrators, students, and other stakeholders to discuss issues, experiences, and solutions on this topic. The Summit has grown and evolved in each iteration since then. The 2023 Summit had more than 530 registered attendees, and we hope that this year’s Summit, the sixth in the series, will be even larger. Some of the many topics we’ll explore during the 2024 OER Summit include: ZTC Degrees/Pathways Gamification and Adaptive Learning Library Digital Content and Archives Student Engagement Development and Collaboration Did I mention that registration is OPEN?!?!
